Lutley Wedge 27/02/11 2.35pm Cold (6°c) Grey and cloudy.

Highlights of quick check of Wassell Grove Pools today in less than inspiring weather, were (1)m Brambling (my first this year) and a flock of (8+) Siskins feeding in the Alders around the pools (one of the Siskin was carrying a leg-ring). Also seen:- 1 Treecreeper 1 Common Buzzard and 3 Bullfinch.

Like the Treecreeper photo Craig. Wonder where the siskin got ringed ?

Thanks Warren, Treecreepers can be a nightmare to get a good shot of as they are always on the move! It's always frustrating when you see birds carrying leg-rings that are just too small to read in the field! I've had ringed Siskin and Redpoll before on the patch but never quite got a good enough look at the rings! They are sometimes readable with luck when birds are close, using feeders etc.
