Wassell Grove Pools:-
80+ Swifts were feeding high over the pools this afternoon. Also seen 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Common Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap and a scattering of Swallows and House Martins.

Reed Warbler Wassell Grove Pools 16/6/10

1 Male Reed Warbler was singing at Wassell Grove Pools, this is the first sighting of this scarce migrant at Lutley since 2002 and only the fifth ever record for the local patch.

1m Garden Warbler
2+ Blackcap
2 Chiffchaff
15+ Swallow
5 House Martin
2 Common Swift

Lutley Wedge 27/05/10 10.15am Sunny spells/scattered cloud, light NW wind

Wassell Grove Pools:-
1 Hobby flew through > NW at 11.13am
also seen:- 3 Sedge Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Common Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, Chiffchaff, 12+ Swift, 10+ House Martin and 5 Swallow.
2 Male Tufted Duck were on the bottom pools.

3 female Whinchats were in a horse paddock near Foxcote House Farm this morning (T.H, S.L.C, C.R) and 100+ Swifts flew over.

A quick visit to the patch late this afternoon and generally quiet, although a flock of 150+ Swifts flew high> SW over Wassell Grove Pools ahead of advancing rain showers early evening and at least 1 Sedge Warbler was still singing and displaying there.
